1.2.0 — All editions
Released
Play the freeze itself: every key now plays your frozen sound, transposed. True stereo input, a cleaner tank, and a full pass over every Full-edition knob, measured end to end.
- Added: True stereo: the input is no longer summed to mono. Panned sources keep their side in the early reflections, and wide or out-of-phase material excites the reverb instead of cancelling (out-of-phase input used to be almost silent).
- Fixed: The dry signal is never limited. Near 0 dBFS the output limiter used to squash the dry signal too, even at Mix 1%.
- Fixed: Quiet passages get the same reverb as loud ones. The tail used to be shorter for soft input (1.9 s instead of 5 s) and the tank's feed jumped 6 dB with steady loud input.
- Changed: Cleaner tails: the tank runs with 18 dB of internal headroom, so dense or loud material no longer intermodulates inside the reverb (about 30 dB less on loud input).
- Changed: Fuller early reflections: they used to cancel in the bass and pile into a single echo at the smallest size. Same level and stereo image, far less colouration.
- Fixed: Full: the tail was darker at 44.1 kHz than at 96 kHz. It now sounds the same at every sample rate.
- Changed: 1snob: Tight is a genuinely small room (about 0.5 s, it never went under 1.4 s), small rooms are no longer near-mono, large spaces get darker instead of brighter, and the last turn of the knob still moves.
- Changed: Playable Freeze rebuilt: each key plays the frozen sound itself, transposed to that key (middle C is the freeze as you caught it), so a chord stacks your frozen pad at several pitches. Continuous velocity: soft notes swell in, hard notes arrive fast. Texture focuses the notes onto each key's pitch; channel pressure swells them.
- Changed: Freeze now closes the input: new audio no longer leaks into the frozen field through the early reflections.
- Fixed: Full: Size barely changed the decay (about 1 s whatever the knob). The tank's saturator lost about 6 dB per pass; Size now runs from under 1 s to about 8 s.
- Fixed: Full: nudging Tail from 50% dropped the tail about 11 dB at once. Tail is now smooth from end to end.
- Changed: Full: Bloom now swells the tail in (it used to just shorten it), Tone changes colour without changing loudness, and Texture's upper half adds grain and audible movement.
- Fixed: Mod Rate now changes the modulation speed; MIDI Channel shows Omni; the A→B / B→A buttons show their arrows; Init no longer switches Play on.
- Internal: Full ArnaTester matrix 44.1k–192k, pluginval Level 10, torture battery.
1.0.2 — Arna 1snob
Released
Playable polyphonic freeze in the free edition — freeze the tail and play it from a MIDI keyboard as a tuned pad, with pitch bend and aftertouch.
- Added: Freeze is now a playable instrument in 1snob: each MIDI note rings a harmonic voice (fundamental + 2nd/3rd harmonic with natural micro-detune chorus) over the frozen material — you play the freeze. Notes ring while held and decay on release.
- Added: Pitch bend (±2 semitones, 35 ms glide) and channel pressure (voice-Q morph and harmonic richness, same axis as texture) on frozen voices.
- Added: Pad-first voice allocator: same-pitch re-strike re-articulates in place (no doubling), stealing takes the quietest voice first with an 8 ms fade-in.
- Added: Texture controls the note's timbre: darker/smooth at 0 (mostly the fundamental), richer/brighter at 1 (more harmonics).
- Fixed: Playable freeze was unreachable in the free edition (no PLAY/LATCH buttons) — freeze now implies playable in 1snob.
- Fixed: Freeze in 1snob no longer forces latch: previously every struck note held forever, piling voices into a wall of noise that couldn't be cleared (no buttons in the free edition).
- Fixed: Per-sample pow/log2 in the freeze sheet cached by bend quantum (bit-identical output, lower CPU).
- Internal: Full ArnaTester matrix green across 44.1k–192k, pluginval Level 10, torture battery.
1.1.0 — Arna Full
Released
Playable Freeze — the reverb-as-instrument rework. Hold the tail dead-steady and play it from a MIDI keyboard as a tuned, polyphonic pad.
- Added: Playable Freeze: while frozen, every MIDI note opens its own tuned resonant voice over the held field — polyphonic up to 32 voices, velocity-sensitive.
- Added: Texture control morphs the played voices across a breathy-to-bell-like range.
- Changed: Frozen field now holds dead-steady — true, endless sustain with no drift or swell.
- Fixed: Played notes are now perfectly consistent — the same note always gives the same sound, in pitch and timbre.
1.0.0 — Arna 1snob
Released
First public build of Arna 1snob — the free, one-knob edition. VST3 and AU on macOS 12+, Apple Silicon and Intel.
- Added: One-knob Journey across five anchor phases — Tight, Room, Bloom, Sentient, Crown.
- Added: One mix fader for dry / wet balance — completes the entire 1snob UI.
- Added: Brain-driven spectral analysis modulating bloom intensity at audio rate.
- Added: Eight reverb presets tuned in DSP (Cathedral, Hall, Chamber, Plate, Spring, Drum Room, Vocal Booth, Cinematic) — exposed in the upcoming Full edition's preset browser.
- Changed: Removed the cycle button and Freeze toggle from the 1snob UI — the edition is now a single knob and a single fader. Freeze remains a Full edition feature.
- Internal: DiffGFDN engine validated through pluginval Level 10, ctest, and the internal torture battery on macOS.
- Internal: Zero allocations on the audio thread; zero added latency (lookahead off).
0.9.0 — All editions
Released
Pre-release calibration build used internally and with closed beta testers.
- Added: Final colour anchors for the journey (Tight cream, Room gold, Bloom warm, Sentient orange, Crown deep ember).
- Changed: Block-size validation extended from 32–1024 to 32–2048 samples.
- Fixed: Denormal noise floor engages at decay > 12 s without bleeding into the bus.
